Internship Assignments
- Assist in implementing Search For Common Ground Media and Digital peace building strategies.
- Support in branding and visibility
- Handle technical aspects of audio/ visual Equipment setup and operation, ensuring high quality production values
- Develop Digital media content targeting various audience
- Prepare Press and social media packs for projects, events, initiatives and campaigns.
- Keep a database of all Media – Traditional and Social media Stakeholders
- Support in Social Media Listening and Early warning data collection and analysis
- Increase Search media page viewership, Generate Traffic and Engagement with Audience
- Generate and analyze reports on social media traffic.
- Facilitate and Document Consent, Safeguarding and Child Protection and Data Protection
- Complete the Common Ground Journalism Course
- Complete the Safe Guarding and Child Protection in house Training
Project Information Management
- Assist in tracking the project’s media output and outcome level results on the periodic basis in close coordination with the project’s implementation team as well as with Implementing Partners.
- Support data collection, verification and compilation from the field as stipulated in the M&E plan.
- Review and compile media activity reports, project progress reports, photographs, case studies video documentaries, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
- Update and maintain the project database.
- As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.
Internship Terms
- For the purpose of the internship in Kenya, the intern will be supervised by the Senior officer, Media, who will be responsible for setting tasks and evaluating the intern’s work.
- The work objectives above will be undertaken by the intern on the basis of 5 working days per week, with any days off agreed in advance with the supervisor.
- The internship will be based in Garissa.
- The period of the internship will last from January 2024 through June 2025.
- The internship may be terminated by either side by informing the other in writing giving 1 months’ notice.
- The prospective intern is required to have a laptop for ease of operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Masters degree in journalism and mass communication or public Relations or any other related field.
- At least two (0-2) years of NGO or CSO experience in project implementation or management in Kenya. Experience working in Coastal Kenya is an asset.
- Strong and proven ability in report writing, in English.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, as well as social media platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with minimal supervision.
- Cultural sensitivity and strong interest in dialogue, peacebuilding and conflict transformation.
- Written and oral proficiency in English and Swahili.
- Knowledge to understand local and global digital landscape trends.
- Proficient in audio production.
- Proficient in video production.
- Proficient in Graphic design.
- Ability to take professional photographs.
- Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
