About the Role

Oasis Healthcare is recruiting a Laboratory Technologist to join its Kakamega facility on a full-time basis. This position is central to patient diagnosis and care, requiring someone with strong technical competence and attention to quality standards. The Laboratory Technologist will manage specimen processing, conduct analyses, and ensure all work meets regulatory compliance and professional standards. Your work as a Laboratory Technologist will directly support clinicians and improve patient outcomes through accurate, timely test results.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, prepare, analyse, and process patient specimens according to established standard operating procedures.
• Perform routine and specialised laboratory tests with accuracy and within required turnaround timeframes.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure reliable performance.
• Validate test results and communicate critical values to clinicians without delay.
• Follow internal quality control protocols and participate in external quality assurance programmes.
• Maintain compliance with Ministry of Health, KMLTTB, ISO, and regulatory standards relevant to laboratory practice.
• Observe strict laboratory safety procedures, including proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
• Maintain accurate and complete laboratory records and documentation as required by policy and regulation.
• Apply infection prevention and control guidelines consistently in daily work.
• Report equipment malfunctions, incidents, and safety concerns promptly to management.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma, or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent qualification.
• Current registration and valid practicing license with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a laboratory setting or healthcare environment.
• Strong analytical and technical skills with ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Demonstrated professionalism and commitment to ethical conduct in laboratory practice.
• Ability to use laboratory information management systems and standard equipment competently.
• Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and regulatory compliance in medical laboratories.
