About the Role

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, prepare, analyse, and process patient specimens according to established standard operating procedures.
  • Perform routine and specialised laboratory tests with accuracy and within required turnaround timeframes.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure reliable performance.
  • Validate test results and communicate critical values to clinicians without delay.
  • Follow internal quality control protocols and participate in external quality assurance programmes.
  • Maintain compliance with Ministry of Health, KMLTTB, ISO, and regulatory standards relevant to laboratory practice.
  • Observe strict laboratory safety procedures, including proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
  • Maintain accurate and complete laboratory records and documentation as required by policy and regulation.
  • Apply infection prevention and control guidelines consistently in daily work.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, incidents, and safety concerns promptly to management.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma, or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent qualification.
  • Current registration and valid practicing license with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a laboratory setting or healthcare environment.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills with ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and commitment to ethical conduct in laboratory practice.
  • Ability to use laboratory information management systems and standard equipment competently.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and regulatory compliance in medical laboratories.
