Position Overview
This serves as the introductory and training level for individuals with diplomas in this field. An officer at this grade will operate under the supervision and guidance of a Senior Officer.
Job Details
The responsibilities at this stage encompass:
- Receiving and collecting specimens
- Processing and analyzing specimens
- Preparing reagents
- Recording and reporting results
- Dispatching results for clinical or research management
- Conducting routine maintenance on laboratory equipment
- Ensuring compliance with biosafety and biosecurity protocols
- Contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Candidate Requirements
To be eligible for this role, applicants should possess:
- A diploma in fields such as Medical Laboratory Sciences, Analytical Chemistry, Applied Sciences, Food Science and Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biotechnology, or equivalent from a recognized institution
- A Registration Certificate from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) or another recognized regulatory body if applicable
- A valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists, where applicable
- Proficiency in computer applications
