SHL/HRD/03/04/24: KITCHEN WAITRESS

Purpose of the Job:

The job holder role is to deliver meals, assist in patient menu selection, and cater to patient
needs in a timely manner. In addition, the kitchen waitress should work closely with the
Nutritionist to ensure that all the patient’s needs are properly addressed.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivers and collects patient menus in a timely manner.
  • Keeps hot food hot and cold food cold during meal delivery.
  • Is responsible for meal accuracy and diet appropriateness while delivering patient trays.
  • Ensures all patients’ needs are catered for during meal shifts at all times.
  • Manages kitchen utilities and ensures at all times there is enough food supplies in the kitchen.
  • Ensures cleanliness of the kitchen utensils used by patients
  • Ensures proper organization of food supplies in the kitchen and also maintains record of all kitchen items at all times.
  • At all times provide high levels of customer service to all patients.
  • Manages cash and charge transactions and maintains records of the same.
  • Adheres to organizational HR policies at all times, Occupational Safety and Health
    Administration (OSHA) standards, as well as other mandatory programs in the facility
    as appropriate.
  • Performs any other duties as may be required by management from time to time

Key Competencies:

  • Holder of at least a diploma/certificate in Food and beverage or a related technical course from a recognized institution.
  • Solid understanding of food science, nutrition and hygiene
  • Minimum Three (3) years ’ experience in a similar role
  • Good customer service skills
  • Self driven and reliable person at all times
  • High levels of efficiency and good communication
  • Flexible attitude and willing to take on extra tasks as necessary
  • Highly flexible and able to carry out multiple projects simultaneously
  • Keen attention to details and specifications
  • Flexibility to long working hours, including weekends and holidays
