Reporting Line: General Manager, Finance and Operations

Employment Type: Performance based contract

Basic Salary: Kshs 30,000 retainer plus commission based on sales


Our client, a fast growing insurance agency, is currently searching for a highly-analytical and professional Insurance Agent to join the team. If you’re a talented and sales-minded professional with a passion for the insurance industry, then this is for you. Your chief goal as an Insurance Agent will be to generate new business by contacting potential customers and building lasting relationships.


  • Design and implement effective marketing strategies to sell new insurance contracts or adjust existing ones
  • Contact potential clients and create rapport by networking, cold calling, using referrals etc
  • Appraise the wishes and demands of business or individual customers and sell the suitable protection plans
  • Collect information from clients on their risk profiles in order to offer them the proper solution
  • Retain continuous awareness of transactions, sales and terms and keep relative records
  • Check insurance claims to solidify trust and safeguard reputation
  • Explain various insurance policies and products to potential and existing clients, guiding them toward the best coverage
  • Deliver approved policies to new clients and explain benefits and risks of the policy
  • Re-assess the policy needs of existing clients after life-changing events
  • Fill-out and submit applications, issue quotes, maintain client records and prepare reports
  • Keep abreast of industry and market trends and best practices
  • Maintain financial and operational records and general office duties
  • Reach the business targets on revenue, claims ratios, number of customers etc


  • Degree in Finance, Actuarial, Business or similar relevant fields
  • Proven 3 years of previous working experience as an Insurance Agent
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Resilient spirit and a persistent nature
  • Proven experience in networking, delivering client-focused solutions and in creating long-lasting relationships
  • Well organized with time great management abilities
  • Good comprehension of insurance plans including automobile, fire, life, property, medical etc.
  • Ability to work with computers and understand and interpret standard statistical findings
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
