General Accountant at Reeds Africa Consult

This role is critical in ensuring the smooth financial operations of the firm while maintaining both internal and external standards. The ideal candidate will handle end-to-end financial functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, VAT Compliance, and Management Reporting. The role will report directly to the Board of Directors.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate financial records, including bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and periodic reporting.
• Perform weekly bank and fund reconciliations.
• Manage accounts receivables and ensure timely collections.
• Oversee accounts payables and ensure timely payments to vendors.
• Prepare and submit accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure full compliance with tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Income Tax, and Corporate Tax.
• Prepare and monitor budgets, including monthly cash flow projections and financial forecasts.
• Manage payroll and employee expense claims with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Maintain and track the firm’s asset register.
• Provide financial insights and reports to support strategic decision-making.
• Implement and enforce internal financial controls, procedures, and policies.
• Handle any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

• CPA (K) certification is mandatory.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar accounting role, preferably within a professional services firm.
• Proficient in accounting software such as Odoo, SAP, QuickBooks, Xero, or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
