Roles and Responsibilities

Successfully accomplishing Zamara’s ambitious strategic priorities poses a complex and challenging task. The ongoing prosperity of the organization relies heavily on the establishment and retention of an exceptional team. The Finance Assistant role is designed to provide vital support to the Finance team, reporting directly to the Senior Accountant. Here is a more detailed breakdown of the specific areas of responsibility:

Accounting

  1. Premium Payment Processing: Handle the processing of premium payments to underwriters, ensuring timely follow-up on allocation and receipts.
  2. Monthly Reconciliation: Reconcile underwriters’ withholding tax payments with the company’s ITax ledger.
  3. Bookkeeping: Manage daily bookkeeping tasks related to client premiums and Group accounts.
  4. Reporting Assistance: Support the preparation of Group reports using PowerPoint, Power BI, and Excel formats.
  5. Bank Reconciliation: Conduct daily reconciliations of bank statements and ensure daily follow-up on Unallocated amounts.
  6. Supplier and Customer Reconciliations: Ensure accuracy in reconciling accounts with suppliers and customers.
  7. Audit Preparation: Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits.
  8. Invoice Processing: Verify and process invoices on E-tims after obtaining necessary approvals.
  9. Tax Compliance Support: Assist with monthly filing of VAT, excise duty, and weekly payments of withholding tax.
  10. Commission Calculation: Accurately compute third-party commission payments within relevant tax guidelines for review.
  11. Client Account Reconciliation: Conduct weekly reconciliations of client accounts to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Client Relations

  • Resolve basic client queries and reconciliation issues promptly.
  • Proactively cultivate positive working relationships with all stakeholders to enhance client satisfaction and service delivery.
  • Promote beneficial relationships between the company and the Underwriter to facilitate claim settlements, especially when premiums are yet to be remitted to the Underwriter.
