Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Accountant to join our accounts team in the manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in accounting and internal/external audit, with proven experience working in a manufacturing environment. They will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial records, cost control, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of entries.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, bank reconciliations, and petty cash management.
  • Conduct regular cost accounting and inventory valuation, ensuring alignment with production and sales.
  • Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, identifying areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Assist with statutory and internal audits; ensure audit readiness and implement audit recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, statutory deductions, and regulatory filings (e.g., VAT, PAYE, WHT).
  • Review internal controls and propose improvements to enhance financial governance.
  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory authorities as required.
  • Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in coordination with HR.

Requirements

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA-K or ACCA qualification is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing industry is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in internal or external audit, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and production-related financials.
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Sage, or Oracle).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
