Enumerators (10 Positions)

Job Purpose

HIAS Refugee Trust of Kenya is seeking qualified Enumerators to support an endline evaluation for a consortium protection project targeting urban refugees in Nairobi. The role involves collecting high-quality qualitative and quantitative data from project beneficiaries to assess the effectiveness, safety, and impact of protection interventions including GBV response, child protection, legal aid, MHPSS, and cash assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in mandatory training on evaluation tools, data collection protocols, and ethical standards

  • Conduct structured interviews with beneficiaries in line with approved methodologies and guidelines

  • Collect and record data accurately using digital data collection platforms such as Kobo Collect

  • Uphold confidentiality, informed consent, and the Do No Harm principle throughout the exercise

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of collected data

  • Submit daily field reports and progress updates to the assigned supervisor

  • Report any challenges, risks, or field incidents to the MEAL team promptly

  • Safeguard and responsibly use any project equipment provided for data collection

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Humanities, Social Sciences, or a related field

  • At least one year of experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection involving human subjects

  • Prior experience working with refugees or vulnerable populations is an added advantage

  • Familiarity with mobile data collection tools such as Kobo Toolbox, ODK, ONA, or SurveyCTO

  • Ownership of a functional smartphone suitable for data collection

  • Availability for full-time participation during training and fieldwork period

  • Strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and within a team

  • Residency in Eastleigh, Kawangware, Kayole, or Kasarani

  • Proficiency in English and Swahili; additional languages such as Somali, Oromo, Arabic, French, Kirundi, or Kinyamulenge are an advantage

  • Minimum age of 18 years
