Job Title

Software Engineer (Java)

Job Purpose

The Software Engineer will support the design, development, testing, and maintenance of enterprise-grade financial and payment systems. The role involves working as part of a delivery team to build secure, scalable, and high-performance market infrastructure solutions while collaborating closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance financial market infrastructure software solutions as part of an agile delivery team.

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient Java code aligned with software engineering best practices.

• Conduct unit testing, system testing, and support quality assurance activities to ensure software reliability.

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for developed solutions and system changes.

• Provide maintenance and technical support for existing applications and deployed systems.

• Collaborate closely with local and international teams to deliver solutions within agreed timelines.

• Follow technical guidance and direction from the Lead Senior Software Engineer.

• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and continuous improvement of existing codebases.

Job Requirements

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Additional certifications in software engineering or related specializations are an added advantage.

• A Master’s degree is an added advantage.

Experience

• 2–4 years of professional experience as a Java Software Engineer.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and software engineering fundamentals.

• Solid grasp of object-oriented programming principles.

• Proficiency in Java, with exposure to Jakarta EE and Spring Boot considered an advantage.

• Good knowledge of relational databases and SQL.

• Working knowledge of web technologies and application integration concepts.

• Familiarity with Docker, Linux, and Gradle is an added advantage.

• Experience working with or exposure to financial systems, payment platforms, or market infrastructure solutions is an advantage.

Soft Skills

• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.

• High level of professionalism, curiosity, and willingness to learn.

• Ability to follow technical direction and deliver assigned tasks accurately and on time.

• Knowledge of additional languages such as French, Portuguese, or Spanish is an added advantage.
