At Hyatt Place Nairobi Westlands & Hyatt House Nairobi Westlands, we are looking for Laundry Attendants who will be responsible for cleaning, pressing and folding laundry as needed. They will also be responsible for the maintenance of laundry equipment and other duties around the facility. They are responsible for sorting linen, towels, clothing and other laundry items by color, size, and material. They are responsible for washing and drying of items with commercial laundry equipment following proper sanitization protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

• Sorting linen, towels, clothing and other laundry items by color, size, and material.
• Washing items with commercial laundry equipment following proper sanitization protocols.
• Operate washers and dryers according to recommended capacity and other manufacturers’ guidelines.
• At completion of washing cycle unloads laundry and places in extractors and or tumblers.
• Places wet garments in dryers utilizing separate compartments and sets timer based on type of garments.
• Removes laundry from tumbler dryer after it has dried and places in coded garment bag or distribution line for delivery or pick-up.
• Monitor feeder information on washers and dryers to ensure proper operation.
• Operate irons, steamers, and folding machines.
• Operate pressing machines.
• Stocking laundry supplies such as detergents, bleach, laundry bags and fabric softener.
• Folding laundry.
• Clean machine filters and lubricate equipment, as well as operated extractors and driers.
• Cleaning and maintaining laundry room area and equipment.
• Maintains record of number of loads handled, starting, and stopping time of machine, and the different types of work processed.
• Cleans machine of lint and notifies team leader of needed repairs.
• Maintains working area in a clean and orderly manner.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Housekeeping and Laundry Operations from a recognized institution
• At least 2 years’ experience working for a reputable hospitality organization in the position of laundry, room or public area attendant
