Laboratory Technologist Job Description:

We are currently seeking a skilled Laboratory Technologist to join our team. As a Laboratory Technologist, you will play a vital role in conducting medical tests and analyses to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions. Your expertise and attention to detail will be essential in producing accurate and reliable laboratory results.

Qualifications/Requirements:

1. Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology: You must possess a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution, demonstrating your proficiency in laboratory practices.
2. Working Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of working experience as a Laboratory Technologist is required. Your practical experience will be valuable in performing medical tests effectively.
3. Registered and Licensed: You should be registered as a Laboratory Technologist and possess a valid license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board (KMLTTB). Compliance with regulatory requirements is essential.
4. Understanding of Laboratory Quality Management Systems (QMS) Initiatives: You should have received training and be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of Laboratory Quality Management Systems (QMS) initiatives to ensure accurate and reliable laboratory results.
5. Proficient in Computer Applications: Basic computer skills are necessary to record and manage laboratory data efficiently.
6. Good Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are vital for effective collaboration with medical professionals and patients.

Responsibilities:

1. Conduct a variety of medical tests, such as blood tests, urinalysis, and microbiological cultures, accurately and efficiently.
2. Prepare specimens for analysis, ensuring proper handling and storage to maintain integrity.
3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, performing regular calibrations and maintenance checks.
4. Adhere to laboratory safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
5. Analyze test results and record findings in a precise and organized manner.
6. Verify the accuracy and reliability of test results, ensuring quality control standards are met.
7. Collaborate with medical professionals to interpret test results and provide relevant information for patient care.
8. Assist in the development and implementation of Laboratory Quality Management Systems (QMS) initiatives.
9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and advancements in medical technology.
10. Provide training and guidance to laboratory assistants and support staff as needed.
