About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Review and moderate examination papers and marking schemes prior to student assessment and administration.
• Examine marked examination scripts, project work, dissertations, theses, and other academic assessments as required by the School of Law.
• Assess the academic quality of programmes and their assessments against established national and international standards.
• Prepare independent written reports evaluating the overall quality and academic standing of programmes under review.
• Advise Mount Kenya University on curriculum development, assessment methodology, and approaches to academic quality improvement.
• Attend examination board meetings and other academic sessions when called upon by the university.
• Produce annual written assessments documenting the standards maintained during examinations and the quality of academic programmes delivered.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Hold an earned PhD degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited academic institution.
• Currently hold the rank of Senior Lecturer or equivalent position at a recognised university or institution of higher education.
• Demonstrate a substantial track record in teaching, research, and supervision of postgraduate students within your academic field.
• Have prior involvement in examination moderation, curriculum design, or quality assurance frameworks in an academic setting.
• Hold current registration with the appropriate professional regulatory body where applicable to your discipline.
• Not be employed by Mount Kenya University in any capacity at the time of appointment.
