About the Role

Keldine & Co.LLP is recruiting Accountants for a full-time position in Nairobi. This role sits at the core of client service delivery, combining technical accounting expertise with client relationship management and business development support. You will work across accounting and financial reporting, tax compliance, systems implementation, and team leadership, serving multiple clients across various industries.

Accounting jobs in Nairobi require professionals who understand both the technical detail and the commercial context of their clients’ finances. In this position, you will manage client relationships, prepare statutory returns, oversee month-end closings, and contribute to the firm’s growth through business development activities. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and review complete accounting records for assigned client portfolios, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, receivables and payables reviews, payroll reconciliations, and tax reconciliations on a routine basis.
  • Prepare and review statutory tax returns including VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, and Corporate Tax filings, ensuring timely submission and payment of all obligations.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes by reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for quality and completeness.
  • Serve as the primary financial contact for assigned clients, conducting periodic review meetings and providing recommendations to improve their financial performance, controls, and compliance posture.
  • Support client onboarding activities and implementation of accounting software and tax technology platforms tailored to client requirements.
  • Participate in business development efforts by acting as a technical resource in sales meetings, preparing proposals and scopes of work, and identifying opportunities to cross-sell services to existing clients.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accountants and interns, review their work deliverables for accuracy, and promote a culture of accountability and continuous learning.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) at finalist level or currently in progress.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in accounting, finance, audit, outsourced accounting services, or advisory roles.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with accounting software systems such as QuickBooks Online or similar platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of Kenyan tax regulations, statutory compliance requirements, and filing obligations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to build spreadsheet models and automate routine calculations.
  • Direct experience engaging with clients and stakeholders in a professional advisory capacity.
  • Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to translate technical concepts into practical business advice.
