About the Role

IGNIS Innovation is hiring 15 Enumerators to work on a nationwide initiative that supports schools in adopting cleaner, more sustainable cooking technologies across Kenya. This is a temporary, entry-level position based in the field, working directly with schools and education stakeholders to gather critical data on clean cooking adoption. The role sits within a broader sustainability programme focused on reducing indoor air pollution and improving health outcomes in educational institutions.

As an Enumerator, you will be the primary point of contact between IGNIS Innovation and schools in your assigned county. Your work will involve systematic data collection, stakeholder engagement, and quality assurance of field information. This position offers hands-on exposure to research methodologies, digital data tools, and project coordination in the education and clean energy sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys and structured interviews with school administrators, cooks, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Collect accurate and complete data using smartphones, mobile applications, and standardised questionnaires
  • Verify and validate all information gathered in the field to ensure quality and consistency
  • Complete and submit detailed reports within agreed project timelines
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive school and stakeholder information
  • Coordinate with project teams on field logistics, scheduling, and follow-up activities

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised Kenyan or international institution
  • Documented experience in field data collection, research, or enumeration work
  • Demonstrated ability to use smartphones and mobile data collection platforms confidently
  • Fluent written and spoken English and Kiswahili
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Capability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
  • Experience with KoboToolbox or similar digital survey tools (preferred)
  • Familiarity with the education sector or previous exposure to school environments (preferred)

What to Expect

  • You will be based in one of five counties: Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Machakos, or Makueni, and must be a resident of your chosen county at the time of application
