Key Responsibilities

  • Administer budget controls by tracking and managing expenditure allocations against the approved annual general meeting budgets.
  • Process timely and accurate payments to suppliers, employees, and board members.
  • Maintain general ledgers, cash books, investment ledgers, and all subsidiary accounting records.
  • Prepare petty cash transactions through online systems in line with established finance procedures.
  • Monitor cheque book usage and arrange continuous adequate supply to operational departments.
  • Conduct monthly bank account reconciliations and investigate outstanding or unidentified transactions.
  • Track capital and operational expenditure against budget allocations and produce variance reports.
  • Review monthly revenue and expense entries to ensure they are recorded in the correct accounting periods in compliance with accruals accounting principles.
  • Draft financial statements and reports aligned with International Financial Reporting Standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of all accounting records and receivables against financial standards.
  • Calculate, prepare, and remit statutory tax obligations to the Kenya Revenue Authority on schedule.
  • Ensure all staff statutory deductions are correctly withheld and submitted.
  • Compile and organize audit files for internal and external audit reviews as requested.
  • Prepare annual tax deduction summaries and communicate outcomes to staff and management.
  • Update and maintain fixed asset registers and confirm insurance coverage is current across all organizational assets.
  • Deliver responsive service to both internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Support the promotion and cross-selling of Sacco products where appropriate.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Professional certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA(K)) or ACCA — mandatory.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related business discipline preferred.
  • Minimum three years of relevant accounting or finance work experience.
  • Proficiency in general ledger management, cash accounting, and bank reconciliation procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities for reporting and stakeholder interaction.
  • Solid analytical skills with the capacity to identify variances, reconcile discrepancies, and assess financial risks.
  • Competence in producing clear, structured financial reports and audit documentation.
  • Sound decision-making judgment in handling compliance and operational accounting matters.
