Intern – Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) Unit at International Organization for Migration (IOM) – International Organization for Migration (IOM) Kenya Job Details
Responsibilities
- Assist project team lead with administrative, financial, and logistical arrangements for Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) programme (e.g., procurement requests, payments follow-up, workshop logistics, and filing).
- Support planning and coordination of trainings, monitoring visits, programme events, including scheduling, preparing participant lists, invitations, attendance sheets, and logistical checklists.
- Assist project team lead liaising with and maintaining regular communication with government counterparts, including contacting training participants and trainers/facilitators for confirmations and logistical requirements.
- Assist with background research and information gathering (including desk reviews and data collection) to support IBG project development, reporting, and concept note preparation.
- Draft and edit communications and visibility products for the IBG Unit, including short news items, briefs, success stories, event highlights, and social media-ready content, in line with IOM standards.
- Draft presentations, talking points, and other documents as requested by the Programme Officer/Project Lead.
- Support preparation of training and activity documentation, including training reports, minutes, participant databases, and filing of supporting documents.
- Participate in field missions with the Project Lead/Programme Officer as required, supporting logistical arrangements and any other assigned tasks during travel and field implementation.

- Be exposed to the activities of IOM Kenya, particular to Immigration and Border Governance Unit
- Gain understanding about the IOM’s project management cycle including monitoring and evaluation
- Learn technical skills described in this Learning Objectives.
- Be able to prove their dedication, skills and capacity to work in an international setting as part of a diverse and international team.

- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution.
