Key Responsibilities
- Lead implementation and continuous improvement of the organisation’s sexual harassment prevention Seven-Point Action Plan, tracking measurable progress and holding teams accountable.
- Guide the British Council through the Five-Stage Maturity Model, identifying capability gaps, setting clear milestones, and coordinating cross-functional action to advance safeguarding readiness.
- Review, update, and embed sexual harassment policies, procedures, and guidance to reflect the amended Equality Act 2010 and sector best practice.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, analyse incident data, identify reporting trends, and inform strategic interventions.
- Design and deliver training programmes, awareness campaigns, and briefing sessions for staff, volunteers, and leaders on harassment prevention and the organisation’s stated priorities.
- Advise senior leaders, HR, safeguarding teams, and operational departments on compliance, risk management, and best-practice approaches to preventing and responding to harassment.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions, consultations, and co-production activities with staff, management, and external partners to ensure a consistent, survivor-centred approach.
- Monitor emerging risks, legislative changes, and sector trends to keep the organisation proactive and compliant in its safeguarding posture.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (BA, BSc, or HND) or equivalent professional qualification.
- In-depth knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 (including recent amendments), safeguarding principles, and harassment prevention frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience working in the public sector, education, health, or other regulated environments where safeguarding is a priority.
- Proven ability to translate complex legislation and policy into clear, practical guidance that staff can understand and apply.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience interpreting data, identifying patterns, and producing insights to drive decision-making.
- Excellent communication and influencing abilities; capacity to build relationships across departments and at all organisational levels.
- Familiarity with maturity models, organisational development frameworks, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Integrity, discretion, and emotional intelligence when handling sensitive matters; ability to engage with affected individuals in a trauma-informed, empathetic manner.
