Job Purpose
In this role, you will become a part of DDD Nairobi’s IT team and serve as an IT Officer. Your primary responsibilities will involve maintaining information technology strategies, researching and implementing strategic technological solutions. You will play a crucial role in advising and assisting the management team in monitoring and managing computer systems and networks.
Job Description
Ensuring Uninterrupted IT Performance:
- Lead and direct the IT function to ensure continuous and uninterrupted IT performance, supporting the smooth operation of DDD’s business.
- Enhance and optimize DDD’s existing IT best practices and drive improvements in IT processes.
- Provide senior management with regular and timely IT performance reports.
Providing Leadership and Guidance:
- Plan, monitor, and manage the IT network in Nairobi.
- Cultivate an engaged and open work environment within the IT department.
Collaboration with Other Functions:
- Collaborate with the Production Manager to ensure that IT supports production tasks as needed, including equipment maintenance and support.
- Work closely with Project Managers to plan IT capacity, including network, servers, and storage.
- Partner with the HR Department to design training programs for improving employees’ and volunteers’ IT skills.
- Regularly assess the quality of computers, software, hardware, network, and office equipment, and manage the replacement and upgrade strategy.
- Manage the organization’s help desk.
- Collaborate with the Finance Department to update PPE (Property, Plant, and Equipment) and track IT licenses.
- Support the marketing team in handling donated IT equipment and software.
- Oversee critical facility components such as generators and fire suppression equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Engineering discipline or related field.
- Extensive knowledge of IT systems is essential, with CCNA certification considered a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading an IT department.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, configurations, VPN, and load balancing.
- Proficiency in cloud infrastructure, AWS, ISP-P2P, Internet leased lines, configuring and optimizing systems, storage, UPS monitoring tools, firewall configuration, Wi-Fi, operating systems, version control tools, server configuration, and management.
- Experience in implementing security policies, managing local LAN/WAN infrastructure, and working with switches/routers.
- Understanding of load balancing and familiarity with VM (Virtual Machine) and remote monitoring.
- Familiarity with ISO 270001, SOC 2, and VAPT certifications.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure.
Preferable Attributes
- Experience or interest in machine learning and AI services, including training data services, computer vision, and AWS Cloud, is advantageous.
- Knowledge of solution development through software and/or automation is a plus.
- Passion for social business.
