Primary Responsibilities:

As an intern, you will closely collaborate with the department’s staff to gain exposure and develop skills in the following areas:

Digital Workplace Analysis and Service Desk Support

  • Engage in Digital Workplace planning and documentation.
  • Contribute to the development of customer satisfaction levels, ensuring adherence to established metrics based on SLAs.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of End User Digital Technologies.
  • Participate in day-to-day technical support for end users, addressing reported incidents and problems through troubleshooting, resolution, or escalation.
  • Conduct research on complex issues that impact multiple clients.
  • Collaborate with technical support from vendors to identify solutions for client issues.
  • Provide responsive support both during standard working hours and outside of them.
  • Generate activity and status reports, sharing them with supervisors.
  • Contribute to the process of closing the customer feedback loop for the sake of Continuous Service Improvement.
  • Support the enhancement of digital IT workspace services through proactive measurement, evaluation, and ideation.
  • Assist in conducting regular customer experience and satisfaction surveys.

Software Development, Server Administration, and Cloud Services

  • Conduct needs assessments for software systems to meet organizational requirements.
  • Engage in the maintenance, modification, and continual improvement of existing software systems.
  • Regularly back up local servers and aid in the migration to cloud servers.
  • Ensure the integrity of user data in servers through regular data cleaning.
  • Assist in the updates and patching of the organization’s servers.

Network and Infrastructure Management

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and document network activities.
  • Maintain seamless connectivity across HQ and field offices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues in both National Office and field offices.
  • Support the management of infrastructure power systems and backup systems.
  • Participate in supervising on-site preventative maintenance and repairs of infrastructure.

Business Analysis and Vendor Management

  • Facilitate the availability of technical resources for meetings, including video conferencing.
  • Monitor vendor services to ensure they meet required service levels.
  • Take part in evaluating vendor solutions to confirm compliance with requirements and policies.
  • Assist in enrolling solutions for staff and provide technical support for solution-related issues.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants eligible for the graduate internship program must be Kenyan citizens who meet the following criteria:

  • Priority will be given to graduates with a Bachelor’s degree who are either beneficiaries of child sponsorship or have experienced WV’s community development in their homes.
  • Candidates demonstrating a sincere desire and capacity to serve in impoverished rural and semi-urban areas of Kenya.
  • Practicing Christians of any denomination, gender, or ethnic background.
  • Individuals displaying good character, honesty, high competency, and overall good physical and emotional health.
  • Willingness to commit their time to the project for the entire year.
  • Graduates who have completed studies in software engineering, Information Technology, or a related/transferrable field within the past year.
