M-KOPA Solar

In this role, you will lead the development and execution of M-KOPA’s climate strategy, with a focus on monetizing carbon projects and advancing the electric mobility sector. You will stay up-to-date on carbon credit systems and the evolving landscape of carbon offsetting regulations across M-KOPA’s markets.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will embed sustainability into M-KOPA’s products, operations, and business model, while contributing to the company’s ESG strategy with an emphasis on carbon reduction and climate-responsible growth. Additionally, you will secure strategic partnerships and funding opportunities, including grants and carbon credits, to support M-KOPA’s e-mobility and device sustainability initiatives. Engaging with key stakeholders, you will promote M-KOPA’s climate initiatives, carbon measurement, and carbon credit projects.
You will also lead the creation of thought leadership content, advocating for climate impact and driving the adoption of data-driven solutions for climate risk modeling and impact evaluation.

Expertise

The ideal candidate will have many years of experience in climate strategy, sustainable finance, or carbon project development, ideally within African markets. They should have a proven track record of managing cross-functional teams and executing climate-related projects in a technology-driven environment.
The candidate should possess a deep understanding of decarbonization strategies, carbon markets, and sustainability frameworks such as Net Zero and science-based targets. They should also be familiar with ESG principles, carbon trading systems, and climate-related regulatory requirements, and be proficient in using data tools for sustainability reporting and carbon measurement.
Strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills are essential, with the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, excellent communication skills are necessary to engage with senior management, investors, and external partners effectively.
