We are looking for a development-oriented and proactive Accountant to join Tramigo’s team in Nairobi Kenya. This new role is a great fit for you if you’ve already gained experience in accounting and want to continue your growth as a professional. As an Accountant, you’ll work closely with Tramigo’s Business Controller and the financial teams of Tramigo’s subsidiaries globally, so we’re looking for someone with great collaboration and English skills. Although this is a junior position, we highly appreciate your ability to work independently, your problem-solving skills and your can-do attitude. Tramigo’s small, yet experienced team will support you in your responsibilities, but the ability to lead your own performance is an essential asset for your success in this position.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare all necessary financial documents such as bills, invoices, purchase orders in Odoo.
  • Prepare and make follow-up on recurring invoices.
  • Handle tax payments and filing in KRA portals.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records for future references.
  • Ensure financial records comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor accounting errors or discrepancies and suggest necessary corrective action.
  • Perform month-end and year-end close activities such as account reconciliations, inventory count, moth-end, and year-end reports etc.
  • Assist in preparing necessary documentation for annual financial audits.
  • Support other teams in accounting activities and respond to accounting related questions and inquiries from employees.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and experience requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
  • Proven 3 years work experience in finance or accounting role.
  • Previous experience with Odoo or other ERP-systems
  • Desired skills and competences:
  • Understanding of accounting principles and Kenyan Taxation law
  • Advanced skills with Excel and the ability to pick up new tools quickly.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and interpersonal/leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility and reliability and discretion.
  • Interest to work in a global and fast-growing environment and an open-minded working attitude – you want to grow (as a professional) with Tramigo!
  • Proactive and forward-thinking mindset with good collaboration and self-leadership skills
  • Proficient skills in English, both written and verbal, French will be an added value.
