Position Overview:

Nova Pioneer is searching for an exceptional English/Literature Teacher to commence in January 2024 at our Eldoret Girls High School. Please note that this opportunity is for teachers with a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering a top-notch 21st-century learning experience for our students.

About the Role:

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Teaching the specialized subject, i.e., English/Literature.
  • Cultivating positive, constructive, and professional relationships with students, their families, and colleagues.
  • Developing lesson plans and collaborating with the Learning Design Team to review and update lessons when necessary.
  • Establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning, tailored to the students’ maturity and interests, and maintaining an organized and focused learning space.
  • Injecting enthusiasm and a love for learning into lessons to inspire students and nurture their academic excellence.
  • Providing necessary accommodations and modifications to support the growth and success of all students, academically and culturally.
  • Ensuring students master content and meet academic standards.
  • Incorporating interactive technology into lessons to enhance instruction.
  • Setting and communicating ambitious goals for all students, delivering effective feedback for internalization.
  • Consistently applying rewards and/or consequences for student behavior and modeling expected behavior at all times.
  • Consistently achieving the ambitious goals of a rapidly growing organization.
  • Serving as a teacher on duty and/or boarding teacher on duty and participating in school-wide programs focused on behavior interventions.
  • Timely recording of student data on academic outcomes and articulating students’ progress to NP families and other stakeholders when required.
  • Supporting clubs, societies, and other co-curricular enrichments aimed at developing well-rounded students.
  • Serving as a homeroom teacher when needed.
  • Fulfilling any other duties as assigned by your Manager.

About You:

Skills and Qualifications required:

  • Possession of a TSC certificate.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education and qualification to teach two subjects. The applicant should have achieved a minimum grade of C+ in the teaching subjects, i.e., English/Literature.
  • A minimum of a C+ grade attained in KCSE.
  • 1-2 years of teaching experience.
  • Proficiency in using technology such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to handle uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity.
  • Problem-solving skills, proactively identifying and addressing issues by seeking appropriate solutions.
  • Enthusiasm for our organizational culture, including a willingness to challenge oneself through mutual vulnerability and an openness to receiving constructive feedback.
  • A desire to develop leadership skills and apply them to positively impact the lives of African youth.
