Relationship Officer – Corporate Banking

Job Purpose

The Relationship Officer – Corporate Banking will support Relationship Managers and the Head of Corporate Banking in credit appraisal, credit administration, and client relationship management. The role ensures continuity of service for assigned corporate accounts, contributes to business growth, and supports achievement of portfolio targets in line with the bank’s policies and regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Support acquisition and retention of corporate clients by engaging existing and prospective customers and aligning their needs with appropriate banking solutions.

• Provide consistent customer service through follow-ups, relationship reviews, and promotion of corporate banking products and services.

• Support marketing and appraisal of real estate financing opportunities and assist branches with analysis of financing applications.

• Conduct client visits to assess business needs, identify cross-selling opportunities, and propose suitable financial solutions.

• Assist Relationship Managers with administrative tasks related to portfolio and client relationship management.

• Carry out credit appraisal, financial analysis, and risk assessment of corporate banking proposals and provide recommendations.

• Monitor approved facilities, follow up on disbursements, and ensure compliance with approved terms and conditions.

• Perform credit administration duties and ensure continuity of relationship management within the assigned portfolio.

• Liaise with the Credit Department to address clarifications and support timely credit decisions.

• Review performance of customer facilities and recommend actions on underperforming or non-performing accounts.

• Support rehabilitation and recovery efforts for clients facing repayment challenges in collaboration with senior stakeholders.

• Verify application of correct pricing, fees, and charges to ensure accurate revenue realization.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business, or a related field.

• Professional qualifications such as AKIB, ACIB, or CPA will be an added advantage.

• Minimum of four years’ relevant experience in corporate or commercial banking.

• Strong credit appraisal and credit risk management skills.

• Good understanding of Central Bank of Kenya prudential guidelines and KYC requirements.

• Strong customer focus with sound commercial awareness.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
