About the Role
Kenchic Limited is recruiting a Stock Accountant for its Nairobi headquarters. This is a full-time position within the finance and accounting department of East and Central Africa’s largest integrated poultry operation. The Stock Accountant will be responsible for managing inventory accounting, reconciliation, and financial reporting across Kenchic Limited’s production and distribution network.
Since 1984, Kenchic Limited has grown from day-old chick production into a diversified poultry business spanning broilers, layers, processed chicken meat, and value-added products including smoked and choma sausages. The company operates from its head office on Enterprise Road in Nairobi and requires skilled accounting professionals to support its continued expansion across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts across all stock categories, including raw materials, finished goods, and work-in-progress items.
- Prepare periodic stock valuations and adjust accounting records to reflect physical inventory counts and system variances.
- Record inventory transactions in the accounting system and ERP platform with accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor stock aging, obsolescence, and shrinkage; report findings to management and finance leadership.
- Generate stock-related financial reports and variance analyses for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures related to inventory balances and cost of goods sold.
- Collaborate with warehouse, production, and procurement teams to resolve discrepancies and improve inventory controls.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal financial policies in all stock accounting activities.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Professional accounting certification such as CPA (Section 4 or higher) or ACCA (Part II or higher), or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum three years of professional experience in stock accounting or inventory accounting roles.
- Demonstrated proficiency with accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for financial analysis and reporting.
- Strong understanding of inventory valuation methods, reconciliation techniques, and financial reporting standards.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple reconciliation tasks within set deadlines.
