About the Role

Excelligent Health is recruiting a Hospital Housekeeper/ Laundry Worker for a full-time position in Kenya. This role is essential to maintaining the clinical and operational standards of a healthcare facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering cleaning, disinfection, and linen management services that directly support infection prevention and patient safety across the hospital environment.

As a Hospital Housekeeper/ Laundry Worker at Excelligent Health, you will work within established healthcare hygiene protocols to ensure all patient areas, communal spaces, and facilities meet strict sanitation standards. Your work underpins the broader infection control programme and contributes to a safe experience for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, corridors, common areas, and all designated healthcare spaces according to approved schedules and protocols.
• Collect, sort, and process hospital linen, including bed sheets, towels, uniforms, and surgical drapes, following safe handling procedures.
• Operate laundry equipment safely and ensure linen is washed, dried, and folded to meet healthcare hygiene and quality standards.
• Handle and dispose of medical and general waste in compliance with infection control regulations and facility procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness of cleaning equipment and storage areas, and report equipment faults or maintenance needs promptly.
• Adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and follow all health and safety guidelines while on duty.
• Respond to cleaning requests from clinical and non-clinical staff and complete tasks within agreed timeframes.
• Report any hazards, spills, or incidents to the housekeeping supervisor or designated manager immediately.

Requirements & Qualifications

• KCSE Certificate or equivalent secondary school education as a minimum qualification.
• A minimum of one year of experience working in housekeeping or laundry services, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of infection control practices and basic hygiene standards relevant to healthcare environments (preferred).
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision and work independently.
• Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual cleaning, lifting, and laundry handling tasks throughout the working day.
• Competent communication skills in English and/or Kiswahili to interact with staff and understand workplace instructions.
• Willingness to adhere to healthcare facility policies and maintain confidentiality in a clinical setting.
