Inuka is working with a leading Investment firm in Africa to bring on an Associate to join their team in Nairobi. The Associate will play a key role in supporting investment due diligence and portfolio oversight specific to regional initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and refining financial models for potential and current investments, collaborating closely with colleagues and investee companies as needed.
- Performing research on market trends and macroeconomic conditions, along with analyzing and summarizing insights from external reports to inform investment strategies.
- Carrying out comprehensive fundamental and credit assessments of both prospective and existing investment opportunities.
- Assisting in the drafting of key investment-related documentation, such as investment evaluations, legal agreements (e.g., shareholder or loan agreements), and regular performance and impact monitoring reports.
- Contributing to the development and delivery of investment proposals for internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, the Investment Committee, the Board of Directors, and third-party partners or investors.
- Providing logistical and administrative support to regional teams, including organizing meetings (team, board, and AGMs), recording minutes, monitoring project budgets, and managing weekly cash flow updates at the country level.
- Leading regular impact monitoring efforts at the investment or portfolio level, which may involve reviewing financial statements from partners, supporting completion of annual M&E reports, and compiling regional impact data for performance tracking.
- Assisting regional teams with quarterly portfolio reporting by maintaining and analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs), financial data, and overall investment performance.
Qualifications:
- A strong academic background, holding at least a 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Accounting, Financial Management, or a closely related discipline.
- Between 5 to 7 years of relevant professional experience, ideally within investment management, investment banking, corporate finance, or audit sectors.
- Demonstrated understanding of the agricultural development sector and impact investing, with a clear passion for addressing the challenges and opportunities in these areas.
- Solid technical foundation in finance and accounting, with strong quantitative analysis skills.
- Proven ability to build and assess financial models in Excel is required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Candidates should be able to convey complex financial insights clearly and succinctly, and have experience contributing to high-level reports or briefings.
