Humanitarian Emergency Affairs Intern
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Information Management and Data Administration
- Contribute to the definition of information requirements and the development of data flows, data quality assurance & quality control, and information management standard operating procedures and guidelines
- Support with the design, development and testing of data collection forms using Esri’s ArcGIS technology (i.e. Surveys) or other platforms (i.e. ODK, Kobo etc).
- Consolidate humanitarian response data from 9 field offices, and coordinate the development of information products such as situation reports, maps, funding appeals, sector infographics, GIS, data visualisation, maps, official statistics and other data and information management activities.
- Support the documentation of all HEA products including best practices, approaches, Real Time Learning etc
- Manage HEA Box and TEAMs platforms to ensure ease of access of documents.
- Maintain an updated humanitarian response register and action points running sheet. Improve data quality in the region/countries through field support, monitoring and feedback.
- Work closely with humanitarian advisors and Anticipatory Action Coordinator to ensure the data is fit for the purpose.
- Develop information management products such as web/desktop maps, dashboards templates, and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Esri’s ArcGIS technology and Tableau.
- Support the gathering and analysis of primary and secondary data for interpretation and evidence-informed decision making and package these for use
Administrative Support
- Support in preparation of key events organized by HEA e.g trainings etc
- Support in capturing notes and minutes for meetings and any other as assigned.
Interdepartmental Support
- Actively participate and support resource mobilisation efforts for humanitarian and disaster risk reduction interventions.
- Working with HEA, Advocacy and Communications department in amplifying the voices of children and evidence-based impact through identifying potential stories and content that can be multi-purposed.
- Support and coordinate with the Regional Office and FOs in development of regional blogs and opinion pieces that can be published externally (View, wvi.org) internally (Ignite).
- Work closely with RAM as per request to provide any necessary support
External Engagements:
- Participate in critical meetings with key stakeholders when delegated to ensure WV is well represented.
- Consolidate write-ups of external meetings for internal sharing.
Other Duties
- Perform any other related duties as required.
- Attend and participate in devotional meetings
KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
Required Professional Experience
- Graduates with an interest in Disaster Management and passionate about data analytics, having graduated within two years of application.
Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
- Degree in any of the following: Data Analytics/Data Science/ Statistics/ Information Management/ Statistics or a related field.
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
- High interest and good understanding of humanitarian industry; Sphere Standards; Core Humanitarian Standards.
Digital Media & Graphic Design Intern-2
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES
- Strengthen brand identity of World Vision. Developing communication products including digital media, reports, publication, flyers, posters, etc.
- Develop, execute and report on social media engagement plans/calendar
- Create concepts and ideas to visually communicate our brand and goals
- Partner with regional communications team to design concepts for campaigns, events and other special projects
- Engage in internal communications activities for broad exposure to the organization
KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
Required Professional Experience
Experience/demonstrated ability in using social media and tracking analytics.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- Experience/demonstrated ability in using graphic design software. You need to know how to use Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop at an advanced level.
- Experience in production and video editing.
- Experience/demonstrated ability in multimedia, marketing, desktop design, journalism, media and/or communication industry.
- Sharp sense of graphic design and digital media trends.
- Excellent analytical skills to translate complex ideas into aesthetically pleasing, understandable, attention-grabbing information
- Must have graduated not earlier than June 2024

Advocacy & External Engagement Intern
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor and Report on Field Office Advocacy Progress (Impact)
- Schedule, send the agenda and take meeting notes for dissemination and filing in Box for Regional Advocacy Forum (quarterly), 9 FO bimonthly (once every two months) calls, External Engagement Meeting, East and Southern Africa Region Joining Forces Alliance (ESAR JFA) Technical Working Group
- Update the EAR, FO and external partners contact list
- File and organize the EAR Advocacy documents in Box
- Draft the quarterly FO report including people reached, children reached and policy changes
- Update the key events from 1 October 2023 – 30 September 2024 including people reached and children reached
Research and Analysis (Influence)
- Draft 4 policy briefs (one per quarter)
- Update the EAR statistics table quarterly
Networking and External Engagement
- Participate and learn from the monthly or quarterly Working Groups e.g. Regional Protection WG, Regional GBV WG, Inter-Agency (IAWG) Working Group – Advocacy and Communications.
Administrative Support, Planning and Reporting
- Prepare the draft budget, agenda and logistics (flights, accommodation, meals, ground transport, advocacy material, passports and visas) for WV EAR Advocacy internal and external meetings, workshops, launches, conferences or forums
- Upload the relevant documents on regional WV EAR Advocacy statements, policy briefs and other documents in different platforms such as WV Central, Relief Web and Box.
Amplify Children’s Voices
- Support FOs to track the number of children reached on through Advocacy on annual basis
- Support FOs to track policy influencing processes on a monthly basis
- Support FOs to track number of children participating in Advocacy and External Engagement
- Support FOs on children’s participation in WV EAR Advocacy events in line with child safeguarding principles
KNOWLEDGE /QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
Required Professional Experience
- 1 to 2 years of experience in advocacy, external engagement, campaigns or policy analysis work in developing countries.
- Knowledge on Child Rights including the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child or the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
- Experience planning and organizing workshops or forums for participants in multiple countries.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, particularly in a cross-cultural environment
- Planning and organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple activities
- Research experience especially in policy and advocacy
- Understanding of humanitarian and fragile contexts
Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
- Master’s degree in social sciences, communication, public policy, management or law
- Training certificate on advocacy, child rights and policy influence, an added advantage

Finance Intern
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Payable Function
- Process cheques / Online payments with supporting documentation and submit for review and subsequent payment
- Prepare monthly creditor reconciliations and liaise with vendors to ensure prompt clearance or resolution of pending or disputed items.
- Liaise with The Finance officer to clear outstanding items in the Bank Reconciliation
Cash/Advance Settlement Management
- Process cash requests according to policy, processes and agreed turnaround times while coordinating with the onsite bank teller to reconcile uncollected amounts.
- Account Allocation of Balance Sheet A/C relating to Advances for proper Aging
- Manage the corporate credit card process by booking of the expenses in expense reporting systems General Ledger reconciliation
Inter-office payment settlement system operations
- Perform Account allocation of 500 Accounts relating to Inter-office payment settlement system to track and establish amounts that have not been allocated for payments to ensure that all payable amounts are sent out on a monthly basis.
- Perform account Allocation and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts as may be required
Document Management and Archiving
- Keep records of documents filed or removed using a tracking tool
- Ensure correct filing, legibility and proper condition of financial documents
- Find and retrieve information from files in response to requests from authorized internal and external users (Auditors, Government agencies)
Administrative Roles
- Support in Events and facilities management
- Any other administrative roles as May assigned from time to time
- Participate in some finance review meetings and any other learning duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Monitoring and Evaluation Intern
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical support in planning, monitoring and database management
- Support review of sampled standardized monitoring forms from National offices
- Support in the creation and collation of appropriate Annual outcome and reach data from Field Offices
- Support analysis, aggregation and synthesis of impact, monitoring and evaluation data across the Field Offices and reporting
- Support in the review of sustainability and Transition plans where appropriate
- Support in the review of assessment, baseline and evaluation design documents and related reports
- Support FOs in collaboration with IT on the utilization of online data collection and management tools including Kobo Collect, ODK etc.
- Support indicator reviews and scale up for Our Impact Our Story impact reporting
- Contributing to brainstorming sessions, proposing ideas, and participating in discussions aimed at innovation or improvement within the region.
- Support the establishment of regional office data management system and dashboard for reach and impact data
Support quality assurance in programmes and projects
- Support in the management of monitoring and evaluation systems (Horizon, new Amp Impact, and other online systems that will generate timely information and feedback to all stakeholders).
- Support the review of sampled programme impact reports across the Field Offices
- Support the Field Offices in conducting Data Quality Assessment
- Support programme level monitoring, support visits and data verification
- Support FOs towards timely and submission of annual programme plans and budgets, DIPs, ITTs and Area Programme Narratives
- Support the review of programme design and transition documents
Support Capacity Building
- Support Monitoring and Evaluation in capacity building initiatives for compliance and alignment to LEAP framework guidelines, principles and standards for regional programmes and projects
- Coordinate and support training of the new OIOS monitoring system to the Field Offices
Other
- Perform any other duty as may be assigned by supervisor or designee from time to time
- Participate and contribute in committees and task forces as may be signed from time to time
- Attend regular Strategy and Program meetings
KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE
Required Professional Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Project Management.
- Demonstrate ability to integrating faith in work and in programming.
