Primary Duties

• Develop and execute an internal audit strategy, a risk-focused audit plan, and establish audit policies and procedures.
• Ensure that audits are conducted in full compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards.
• Assess and measure the efficiency of internal control systems.
• Maintain connections with external audit firms to ensure smooth coordination of activities.
• Identify potential areas of fraudulent activity and provide recommendations for appropriate control measures.
• Create detailed audit reports to present to the Board of Directors.
• Offer guidance and advice to management regarding audit-related matters.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure comprehensive audit coverage.
• Recognize risks and deficiencies in internal controls, processes, and procedures.
• Pinpoint vulnerabilities and suggest strategies for risk mitigation and cost reduction in assigned areas.
• Carry out follow-up audits to track the timely implementation of management’s action plans.
• Review existing internal controls and propose suitable modifications when necessary.
• Guarantee adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
• Miscellaneous: Participate in cross-functional projects or assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Required Skills and Experience

• More than 5 years of experience in Internal Audit, preferably with a reputable consulting firm or a medium-sized manufacturing company.
• Proficiency in developing, implementing, and overseeing organization-wide audit programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, information science, commerce, or equivalent.
• Hold a recognized chartered accounting qualification in Kenya.
• Possess CPA (K) or an equivalent professional certification.
• A catalyst for change, comfortable in dynamic environments such as start-ups, scale-ups, or organizations undergoing significant transformations.
