Position Summary
- As a clerk of works you will be responsible to oversee and inspect construction projects to ensure they are built according to the agreed-upon plans, specification, quality standards and health & safety requirements. Act as the client’s representative on-site, monitoring the quality of both materials and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting regular inspections of the construction site to monitor progress and identify any issues.
- Inspecting construction work and comparing it with drawings and specifications.
- Measuring and quality checking building materials.
- Identifying defects and suggesting ways to correct them.
- Communicating with contractors, architects, engineers and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Maintaining records of site activities, including progress reports, site instructions, and any variations.
- Ensuring that all work is carried out to the required standards, specifications, correct materials, workmanship and schedule.
- Checking that building regulations, health and safety, legal and ecological requirements are met
- Identifying potential risks and defects early on, preventing costly rework.
The requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Electrical, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering and knowledge of construction standards, laws, and regulations
- License or practicing certificate from the relevant professional authority.
- At least 3 years’ experience in Facilities Management, preferably within a school setting
- Good understanding of (and experience in) project management.
- Strong practical experience in construction supervision or site management.
