Cleaner

Job Purpose

The Cleaner will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the hospital to support patient safety, staff wellbeing, and overall service quality.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize hospital wards, offices, corridors, washrooms, and common areas according to set schedules.

• Disinfect surfaces, equipment, and high-touch areas in line with infection prevention guidelines.

• Collect, segregate, and dispose of waste safely following hospital and public health standards.

• Refill cleaning and hygiene supplies such as soap, sanitizers, and tissue.

• Report maintenance issues, spillages, or hazards promptly to the relevant department.

• Adhere to hospital cleanliness protocols, safety procedures, and use of protective equipment.

• Support cleanliness during emergencies, inspections, and high-traffic periods.

Job Requirements

• Minimum KCSE certificate or equivalent qualification.

• Previous cleaning experience in a hospital or institutional setting is an added advantage.

• Knowledge of basic hygiene, sanitation, and infection control practices.

• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.

• Physically fit with willingness to work flexible shifts when required.

• High level of integrity, reliability, and attention to cleanliness standards.
