Key Responsibilities
Beverage Preparation & Service:
- Prepare and servea full range of alcoholic beverages (cocktails, beers, wines, spirits) and nonalcoholic drinks (juices, sodas, mocktails, coffee, tea) accurately and efficiently, following Nkasiri’s recipes and standards.
- Engage with guests in a friendly, professional, and attentive manner, taking orders and making recommendations.
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge, including ingredients, preparation methods, and popular trends.
- Bar Operations & Maintenance:
- Ensure the bar area, glassware, and equipment are consistently clean, organized, and well maintained in accordance with health and hygiene standards (especially crucial in a food & beverage setting in Kenya).
- Monitor and manage bar inventory, including spirits, beers, wines, mixers, garnishes, and other supplies.
- Restock shelves and chillers regularly to ensure smooth service flow.
- Operate and clean bar equipment such as blenders, coffee machines, and ice makers.
Cash Handling & POS Operations:
- Accurately process guest orders and payments using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Handie cash and card transactions responsibly, ensuring accurate reconciliation at the end of each shift
- Prepare daily sales reports as required.
- Inventory & Stock Control:
- Assist in receiving and verifying beverage deliveries, ensuring accuracy against invoices.
- Conduct regular stock takes and report any discrepancies or low stock levels to the F&B Manager.
- Minimize wastage and breakage of glassware and beverages.
- Guest Experience & Upselling:
- Proactively anticipate guest needs and provide excellent customer service to enhance their experience at the park.
- Suggest and upsell beverages or promotions to guests where appropriate.
- Handle guest inquiries and complaints professionally and efficiently, escalating to management when necessary.
Compliance & Safety:
- Strictly adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations set by the Ministry of Health (Kenya) and Nkasir’s internal policies.
- Ensure responsible service of alcohol, checking IDs as required and refusing service to intoxicated individuais.
- Maintain a safe working environment, reporting any hazards or faulty equipment.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, waitstaff, and other park teams to ensure seamless guest service.
- Attend all required departmental meetings and training sessions.
Qualifications
Education:
- Certificate or Diploma in Food & Beverage Service, Hotel Management, Hospitality, or a
- related field fromarecognized institution (e.g., Utalii College, or other hospitality schools in Kenya).
- Valid food handler’s certificate (as required by Kenyan health regulations).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience as a Barman/Bartender inareputable hotel, restaurant, bar, or similar hospitality establishment in Kenya.
- Demonstrable knowledge of a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including classic cocktails and popular local drinks.
Skills & Competencies:
- Exceptional Customer Service: Friendly, approachable, and guest-focused with a genuine desire to provide excellent service.
- Mixology Skills: Proven ability to prepare drinks accurately and consistently, with an eye for presentation.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous in maintaining cleanliness, organizing stock, and processing orders.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili.
- Numeracy: Good basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively as part of a dynamic F&8 team.
- Speed & Efficiency: Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure, especially during peak times.
- Integrity: High level of honesty and trustworthiness in handling cash and inventory.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and navigate the bar area efficiently.
