Senior Associate, Education and MEL at Genesis Analytics – Genesis Analytics Kenya Job Details

About the Role

Genesis Analytics is recruiting a Senior Associate, Education and MEL to join the Education Team within the Human Development practice in Nairobi. This is a full-time consulting position focused on monitoring, evaluation, and learning across the education sector in Africa. You will work on a growing portfolio of projects spanning pre-primary and foundation learning programmes, secondary education support, and higher education MEL system design—all applying rigorous methodologies to real-world policy and system challenges.

The Senior Associate, Education and MEL at Genesis Analytics will combine technical depth in evaluation design with policy insight and commercial awareness. You’ll work independently from day one, leading project delivery while building the team’s internal capacity in high-quality MEL work. This role sits within a consulting environment where analysis informs decisions made by governments, development partners, and the private sector across Africa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver education MEL projects at all levels, ensuring methodological rigour is paired with policy relevance and clear client outcomes.
  • Convert quantitative and qualitative research findings into evidence-based recommendations and deliverables that inform education policy.
  • Manage or co-manage project workstreams, overseeing timely delivery, quality standards, and client satisfaction throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Supervise and mentor junior analysts and associates, building team capacity in MEL disciplines and supporting their professional development.
  • Engage directly with ministries, multilateral development institutions, and private sector partners to co-design solutions addressing education system challenges.
  • Present insights and recommendations to decision-makers through reports, presentations, and workshops that account for political economy factors within education systems.
  • Support business development activities including proposal design, methodological framing, and client relationship building across the education sector.
  • Contribute to the team’s intellectual leadership and knowledge on MEL in education, collaborating across Genesis Analytics’ Human Development practice.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or PhD) in Economics, Development Studies, or a closely related discipline.
  • 5–10 years of professional experience in consulting or equivalent roles that demonstrate sustained technical and project delivery capability.
  • Demonstrable experience in monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) with strong quantitative and analytical skills; proficiency in STATA or similar statistical software required.
  • Ability to write clearly and speak effectively, translating technical findings and data into actionable policy recommendations for non-specialist audiences.
  • Proven track record of independent work and self-direction, with ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to be based in Africa for the duration of this role.
  • Prior participation in highly selective professional development programmes (such as the Overseas Development Institute Fellowship, World Bank Young Professionals Program, or African Development Bank Young Professionals Program) is desirable.

What to Expect

  • You will work within a consulting firm applying rigorous analysis to real-world education policy and system challenges across Africa, with projects spanning mixed-methods experimental evaluations, secondary education system support, and higher education MEL design.
  • The role offers direct engagement with government ministries, development institutions, and private sector organisations, requiring regular communication, stakeholder management, and ability to navigate complex political and institutional environments.
