About the Role

Royal Mabati Factory is recruiting for an Operations Manager to join its leadership team in Nairobi. This full-time position reports to the Managing Director and serves as a key strategic leader responsible for aligning operational performance with the organisation’s transformation objectives. The role bridges factory floor execution with board-level strategic planning, overseeing manufacturing, logistics, and commercial operations across multiple business units.

The Operations Manager at Royal Mabati Factory will manage a complex operational landscape including production scheduling, quality assurance, dispatch coordination, and cross-departmental project delivery. This is an administration role in Kenya that requires a leader capable of driving systematic change, managing competing priorities, and embedding accountability frameworks across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a strategic advisor to the Managing Director, ensuring operational strategies align with company-wide transformation initiatives and supporting frontline management execution.
• Lead implementation of cross-functional transformation projects, tracking milestones, timelines, and deliverables across all business units and escalating stalled actions to resolution.
• Chair Weekly Operations Review (WOR) meetings with heads of department and ensure Daily Operations Review (DOR) cascade meetings occur with documented minutes, filed records, and tracked task dashboards through to completion.
• Establish and maintain a matrix accountability framework spanning Factory, Depot, Transport, and Commercial teams, defining clear key performance indicators and escalation pathways for each division.
• Oversee daily and weekly production planning aligned to the Production Standard Operating Procedure, coordinating shift schedules, material availability, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Ensure compliance with KEBS and ISO quality standards across all operations, implementing quality protocols and managing non-conformance reporting as per the Production SOP.
• Manage dispatch operations including routing plans, fuel calculations, and delivery sequencing in accordance with Routing and Dispatch SOPs.
• Lead organisational response during operational crises, ensuring incidents are assessed, escalated appropriately, and closed with documented resolutions under the Crisis Management Policy.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Business Administration (with specialisation in Strategic Management, Operations Management, or Supply Chain Management) or Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in operations management within manufacturing or logistics environments.
• Demonstrated track record leading cross-functional teams across multiple departments and business units.
• Certified in process improvement methodologies: Six Sigma, Kaizen, or DMAIC (Lean Management certification is an additional advantage).
• Proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) or customer relationship management (CRM) systems, data analytics tools, and project management software.
• Strong analytical capability, written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated competence in change management.
