Duties and Responsibilities by Role (Optimized)

Director (Technical Directorate)

• Lead regulatory, technical, and market development functions for scheduled crops
• Represent Kenya in regional and international agricultural engagements
• Oversee policy formulation, compliance systems, and value chain regulations
• Coordinate data systems, research priorities, and innovation strategies
• Promote market access, value addition, and competitiveness in crop sectors

Compliance Officer II (20 Posts)

• Conduct inspections and compliance audits across farms and processing facilities
• Monitor production, handling, and trade of scheduled crops
• Enforce food safety standards and industry regulations
• Collect samples and support laboratory testing processes
• Prepare compliance reports and recommend corrective actions

Market & Product Development Officer II

• Promote agricultural products in local and international markets
• Conduct market research and identify growth opportunities
• Support value addition, branding, and product positioning
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement and market linkages
• Maintain market intelligence systems and trade data

Records Management Officer II

• Manage document filing, classification, and archiving systems
• Digitize records and maintain secure document storage
• Track file movement and maintain indexing systems
• Ensure compliance with records management policies
• Support information retrieval and documentation processes

Crops Development Officer II (10 Posts)

• Collect and analyze agricultural production and stakeholder data
• Support development of crop value chains and investment opportunities

• Operate assigned vehicles safely and efficiently
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks

Shortlisted candidates will be required to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 by providing; Police Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations; Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board; Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority; Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission; Report from an Approved Credit Reference Bureau; and clearance from Commission for University Education for degrees obtained outside Kenya.
