Job Purpose:

The primary responsibility of the incumbent is to boost business for Rafiki Microfinance Bancassurance by enrolling and supporting life and general insurance clients at the branch, working closely with Bancassurance underwriters.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute effective marketing strategies to promote insurance solutions, targeting new clients, and engaging in upselling/cross-selling to existing clients.
  2. Establish connections with potential clients through networking, cold calling, referrals, etc.
  3. Generate leads, schedule appointments, and gather information on clients’ risk profiles to provide customized insurance solutions.
  4. Cultivate strong customer and community relationships, following up with clients as necessary.
  5. Initiate and oversee insurance claims with the claims department, ensuring client and company satisfaction, building trust, and maintaining a positive reputation.
  6. Coordinate end-to-end processing of the bank’s IPF, disbursement, and transfer to Rafiki Bancassurance for the issuance of annual covers on bank asset businesses.
  7. Collaborate with the finance team to manage debtors’ reports, review debt levels, and address identified action points.
  8. Negotiate competitive rates for clients with Rafiki Microfinance Bancassurance underwriting.
  9. Monitor daily production reports, ensuring all branch business transactions are properly receipted, approved, and posted.
  10. Handle instructions to place cover from branches within specified turnaround times and dispatch covers to clients.
  11. Focus on renewals to retain a minimum of 90% of existing clients and manage debt effectively to adhere to Finance policy guidelines.
  12. Identify training needs and conduct training sessions on lead generation and closure.
  13. Follow up on cancellation notices from insurance companies for policies slated for cancellation.
  14. Collaborate with the finance department to ensure timely receipt of clients’ insurance premiums, preventing future reconciliation issues.
  15. Oversee new business development and manage the existing branch portfolio.

Key Competencies, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
  • 3-4 years of work experience in a similar role in the insurance field.
  • Certificate of proficiency or Diploma in insurance is an added advantage.
